Coniston Brewery – Special Oatmeal Stout
The Beer: Toasted malts and some toffee edges in the aroma; black (or at least very, very dark brown) in colour with a tan head; moderate roasted malts in the flavour; medium bodied, harsh carbonated sensation, some toasted bitterness once it hits the mouth, and some toasted bitterness in the aftertaste.
Thoughts: Pleasant enough. Seems to have the right amount of bitterness and toasted flavours for such a beer. Bought this from the services at Tebay on the M6, which had plenty of local beers on offer.
