The British summer. What I need is a great beer that will remind me of those summer meadows, freshly cut hay, the dreadful hayfever I got this year. In fact, what would be great is a mildly warm summer since its been pretty lousy this year. Lets reach for that IPA then…
Chapel Down – Curious Porter; 5% abv
Aroma: Loads of hops, grassy elements, some malts, but a fresh aroma
Appearance: slightly opaque copper; some bubbles rising, slight carbonation, but not many; tan frothy head
Taste: More malts than hops, but enough to get a really fresh grassy sensation; bitterness is medium; not much else to report
Mouthfeel: smooth, dry, moderate carbonation
Pleasant enough, but was missing that little more complexity and hoppy drive than it gave. Really like this brewery and what they set out to do, will miss this place.
