HMS Victory, launched in 1765, was Nelson’s flagship and thus part of the battle of Trafalgar and is now open to the public as a living museum in Portsmouth, which isn’t bad for a ship that is over 246 years old.
|The Beer||Batemans – Victory Ale; 6%abv|
This beer has a malty, slightly spicy, and alcohol aroma. Clear copper in colour with a white fluffy head that quickly goes. Full bodied, robust flavour, plenty of hoppy bitterness with a spicy edge but manages to give a fresh, smooth sensation in the mouth and an all round, long lasting bitterness that reminds me more of a lot of US beers that I’ve had. This stands out as being a lot different than recent beers I’ve had and as such I enjoyed it.
