Goose Island - IPA
It amazes me that I’ve not written about this beer yet, certainly not the first time I’ve tried it so it must have slipped through the process. Before coming to the US I would not have ranked IPA as being a favourite but given that there have been so many superb examples this is starting to go up the rankings.
| The Beer | Goose Island – India Pale Ale; 5.9% abv, 55 IBU |
|---|---|
| Aroma | Hoppy with grassy elements (freshly mown variety), some flowery, spring like esters, very fresh |
| Appearance | Amber, slightly cloudy with medium carbonation; light fluffy head that quickly goes |
| Taste | Deliciously hoppy, plenty of bitterness but hitting the right strength, fresh “hay” elements and there are some hints of malt in there too |
| Mouth feel | Dryish, a bit lively, medium bodied; quite a bold presence to it |
| Comments | Very refreshing and quite enjoyable; this seems to be the right bitterness for an IPA, at least for my tastes, i lies somewhere in the middle and has the right combinations of everything – not too much, not too little. |
